      • 4 Pounds Beef Brisket
      • 28 Ounces Italian Crushed Tomatoes
      • 1 Large Red Onion (Diced)
      • 2 Tablespoons Red Wine Vinegar
      • 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
      • 4 Cloves Garlic (Minced)
      • 1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar
      • 1 Teaspoon Celery Seed
      • 1 Teaspoon Salt & Freshly Ground Black Pepper
      • 1/2 Teaspoon Ground Cumin
      • 1/2 Teaspoon Liquid Smoke
      • 4 Teaspoons Cornstarch
      • 3 Tablespoons Cold Water


  1. Halve the brisket and place in 5-quart slow cooker.
  2. Combine tomatoes, vinegar, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, celery seed, cumin, brown sugar, liquid smoke, salt and pepper in a bowl. Pour the mixture over brisket, cover and cook on low for 8 hours. Transfer the brisket to a serving platter and tent with foil to keep warm.
  3. Form a cornstarch slurry, by mixing the cornstarch and water in a small bowl. Combine the slurry with 4 cups of the cooking liquid and bring to a boil, and reduce to a simmer. Cook for a few minutes, or until the sauce thickens.
  4. Slice the brisket across the grain and serve topped with gravy.
