Ingredients

      • 1 Large Orange (Rind Cut Into Strips With A Vegetable Peeler)
      • 1 Large Lemon (Rind Cut Into Strips With A Vegetable Peeler)
      • 2 Cinnamon Sticks
      • 6 Whole Cloves
      • 6 Whole Allspice Berries
      • 6 Cups Apple Cider
      • 6 Star Anise
      • 1/4 Cup Real Maple Syrup

Directions

  1. In a clean piece of cheesecloth, combine orange peel, lemon peel, cinnamon sticks, cloves, allspice, and anise and tie up with a piece of kitchen string.
  2. In a large Dutch oven, combine apple cider, maple syrup and spice bundle over low heat and simmer for 30 minutes, until very hot but not boiling.
  3. Remove from heat and discard the spice bundle.
  4. Transfer the cider into mugs, and top with a shot of Cinnamon whiskey or apple brandy if desired and serve.
